Team Update - Wednesday October 2, 2024
Parents,
Today is week 5 of our 12 week Killer BananaZ and Junior BananaZ season.
This week we would like to have all the FLL challenge students registered to the corresponding
teams. We have sheets with QR code parents may scan to register their students. This is a much
improved process from years past and only takes a few moments.
We will be working on getting an impact project moving.

Team Update - Wednesday September 25, 2024
Parents,
Today is week 4 of our 12 week Killer BananaZ and Junior BananaZ season.
Thank you to the parents that are helping out this season! The success of our program is largely
because of your efforts.
We have two challenge teams registered and two explore teams registered. This week we want to
start on the process of registering the students to their teams. We have a form that has a QR
code that parents will scan with their mobile phones to get the process started. It only take
5-10 minutes to complete and
is required for every child that is participating. If you do not wish to use your mobile phone
we can provide you with a URL to use on your computer. Both ways access the same FIRST robotics
website.
On October 7th FIRST in Michigan will assign teams to home events. We are currently planning
that our home event is the Lakeshore event on December 7th. On October 9th is when the actual
event
registration process with start. Shortly after that we will receive confirmation of our event
registration. Coach Brown and myself will handle this process. We will also handle paying the
registration fee that is due to the event. There is no cost to the students to participate. Our
sponsors are covering the cost along with the fundraising we perform as robotics organization.
We are looking for some assistance with our T-shirt sales if you are available this Friday
around 5pm at the football game. Please speak with Coach Brown or Coach Jillson if you are
able to help out.
This week we will continue to reinforce the FIRST values, the design process and the innovation
challenge. Here are two resources that are useful to us this season.
- Resources page – annotated, organized list of links to everything for running a team and this season
- Run-a-Team page – step-by-step guide to running a team from registration to attending an event
- Events Page – A list of the current planned event throughout the State of Michigan.
There is a wealth of information here. It is a lot to take in all at once and it is a good
resource
to revisit when you have questions.
Overall we are progressing ahead of our last year's rookie season!

Team Update - Wednesday September 18, 2024
Parents,
Today is week 3 of our 12 week Killer BananaZ and Junior BananaZ season. The FLL program is
designed to run 10 weeks with our completion being Saturday December 7th. Last week we
registered our second FLL Challenge team for the season. We now have a student capacity of 20
students in FLL Challenge. If we continue to see consistent growth and weekly attendance above
18 students we will consider adding a third team. We currently have two FFL explore teams
registered. We are currently at last years team count for both Challenge and Explore.
Each challenge team needs at least two parents each week to lead the team. It doesn't need to be
the same parents each week, but does help with consistency. Each FLL Explore team needs at least
one parent each week to lead the students. Explore students do better with some parent guidance
so they do not get off track and become bored. As coaches for the FLL program we will be hear
each week to provide the resources the team needs to be able to progress. We will also keep
track of important dates and milestore so the students have a great experience. Overall we like
to maintain a 1:3 parent to students ratio at each of the meetings. Not all parents need to be
interacting with students but their prensence and support
This week we need to setup our second FLL team table. Students and Parents that love to build
legos are welcome to help us set it up. Students that are interested in building and programming
the robot can work on the existing table.
